Fourteen new SA Art records established in three days of auction

April 28, 2008 - Stephan Welz & Co, in association with Sotheby’s, had a really exciting three days in April. Apart from the the sale yielding a total turnover of over R39 million, of which some R30 million came from the South African Paintings category, no fewer than fourteen new SA auction records were established.

April 24, 2008 - Stephan Welz & Co, in association with Sotheby’s, presented three days of auctions at their Johannesburg offices last week. The auction sessions included South African, British and Continental Paintings, Books, Jewellery, Diamonds and Silver, Watches, Clocks, Carpets and Furniture.

April 24, 2008 - After the three days of auctions in April, in Johannesburg, the South African auction record book had to be re-written, with fourteen new records being added. From a different perspective, in rand value by artist terms, the overall prices record prices achieved keep moving upwards at a rate that make optimists take a "sky's the limit" stance.
